Aerial Yoga: Also called "anti-gravity" classes combine traditional Yoga methodology and the alignment principles of Iyengar Yoga with weightlessness for flexibility, strength and deep relaxation. The Yoga Swing serves as a prop, which makes it possible for all levels to experience fun and ease in a yoga practice. Classes are designed to modify the postures using the support of the swing. As with the use of any yoga prop, you will find that you can hold and balance in the pose longer to fully absorb the benefits of the yoga. Increase joint mobility, decompress the vertebrae of the spine, open the hips, remove weight from the knees, increase blood flow to the brain, mellow the nervous system and all while inspiring the kid inside of you to learn and explore new things. Blend aerial acrobatics and dance with the art of yoga to soar your yoga practice into new dimensions.
You should not practice inversions if you have high blood pressure, heart disease, eye diseases such as glaucoma, or hardware from a spinal fusion. Such people need to progress very slowly, starting at very light levels of inversion. Please consult your doctor about it first
We encourage ALL students to take at least one private lesson or attend the Aerial Basics class on Saturdays at 1:00pm prior to attending the other classes to become familiar with the aerial equipment.
Reminder: Due to limited space, we ask that you sign up ahead of time for aerial classes, either by calling the studio at (727) 754-7840 or visiting WendyFit.com and clicking on the client log in to pre-register for the class. You must give 24 hour notice of cancellation or you will be charged for the class. If you are a student in college, you must show proof of attendance with a dated school ID or pay stub
For hygienic reasons and to avoid fabric burns wear clothing that covers your underarms and knees.
No zippers, snaps, or jewelry. Remove Hair clips that could snag the silks. Be aware of long and/or sharp nails that could rip or pop off during class.
No heavy meals at least an hour before class.
Please no gum.
Aerial Yoga & TRX Suspension Training
Q: Do I have to be strong for this class?
A: The Aerial Fit classes are designed to develop your upper body strength. You may start your aerial practice with little strength, but it will increase over time. You may want to begin with the Aerial Stretch class where the silks are close to the ground and you don't do any flipping upside down, just gentle stretching.
Q: What if I've never done Aerial Yoga before?
A: All classes are beginner friendly. However, we do encourage you to take a private session with us prior to taking a class so you have an opportunity to get comfortable with the silks.
Q: Can I be pregnant in this class?
A: Unfortunately it is not recommended that you take aerial yoga while expecting. This is a great class, however, to get back into shape post-baby!
